Ben Murphy beat competitors from every corner of the World to win a gold medal and joint first prize for cooking at WorldSkills London 2011
A demi chef at Koffmann’s in London, Ben and the 36 other competitors, toiled for two days, cooking four courses from scratch from 10am until 5.30pm.
By contrast, the Craft Guild of Chefs National Chef of the Year 2011 final – won by the likes of Gordon Ramsay, Mark Sargeant and Kevin Viner – takes a mere two hours to decide the winner!
Also winning Gold was Øyvind Bøe Dalelv from Norway. Full results can be found here: WorldSkills London 2011 Results

Stefan Howells, 21, demi-chef de partie, Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons and Wojciech Pastor, 20, chef-de-rang, Gleneagles, were both awarded Medallions for Excellence in the confectioner/pastry chef and restaurant service categories.
WorldSkills is held every two years, hosting more than 1,000 contestants from 52 countries competing in 46 vocational skills including hair and beauty, bricklaying, electronics and robotics. Over 200,000 visitors attended the four-day event, held at ExCel, London.

Ben and Adande
Ben first saw the Adande units close up when he kindly agreed to formally open Adande’s new factory, together with the MP for Waveney, Peter Aldous, in September.
Ben commented, “This really made me think about changing the way I will work for the competition.”
