Cook with Kids
Rob Kirby, Chef-Director of Lexington Catering, is pictured on the Adande stand at WorldSkills 2011 signing copies of his cookery book for children and parents, Cook with Kids.

One Great Cause
Rob spent an afternoon promoting signed copies for charity donations to Great Ormond Street Hospital School. The Adande team, aided and abetted by Craft Guild of Chef’s Martin Bates, kept the promotion going throughout the four days of WorldSkills until all copies had been sold.
All royalties from the sale of the book, £9.99, are going to the school and the WorldSkills promotion raised nearly £1000. Cook with Kids features 40 full colour recipes and is designed for parents to cook with their children.
Rob Kirby was brought up in Greater London and his family lived on an acre of land which they grew all manner of fruit and vegetables. Home-cooked delights were always on the table.
And Another Benefits too
As a member of the Academy of Culinary Arts, Kirby is active in its Chefs-Adopt-A-School initiative, in which chefs visit schools not only to teach children how to cook but also how to understand and explore their taste and sensory powers. Rob generously donated his fee for weiting the book to Chefs Adopt a School.
Kirby said that he hoped the book would pull families together during these busy times and that it would teach children at an early age one of the most important skills for life.
